P2/3 Safety Day 2024
Today was Safety Day. We were joined by lots of exciting visitors. Our first visit of the day was to listen to the wonderful work and history of the RNLI 🚤 or ‘Lifeboaters’ as they are known. We really enjoyed looking at all the different equipment and got to ask lots of questions.
Our next stop was to the Ambulance .🚑 After a talk about what their job included we were invited into the Ambulance to see all the different equipment. We were very excited to get a spin on the lift and the paramedics showed us the special blanket they use on some of their patients to keep them warm. They showed us their blue lights and put on their siren for us.
After our snack we were joined in our classroom by two Police 👮♀️ 👮♀️ Officers. They shared some tips on how to stay safe online. We then got to ask lots of questions about their jobs and try on some police head wear.
We joined our schoolmates in our assembly hall for a ‘Farm Safety’ talk, our speaker Rachel was super impressed with our knowledge of farm safety. She explained to us all the different areas of the farm that we must take care on, the animals, machinery, playing on the farm, chemicals and the dangers around slurry.
Our last visit of the day was to see the Blue Valtra Tractor...such excitement! We have a lot of boys and girls in our class who love tractors 🚜 Mrs Black explained all the dangers, how we should never stand near the back as the tractor driver could not see us, how we shouldn’t touch any buttons, levers or moving parts.
We have had a very exciting day, Thank you Mrs Bogue for organising such an interesting day 🤗 and for all the agencies for taking part, we have learned a lot!
