P3 outdoor learning
P3 were delighted to have Tony Smith (Oakwood Bushcraft Forest School) visiting our Forest School today. It was lots of fun. We started by singing songs. Then we played an alphabet game.
We took a learning walk and watched in awe as Tony started to eat some nettles! He taught us the names of the trees in our school grounds and how they can be used for different purposes - canoes can be made from the silver birch, or you could have a bath in the twigs from the birch to help ease your aches and pains.
We then hunted for some mini beasts. We found an invasive species of New Zealand flat worm - which is attacking our native earthworm. We also found some woodlice - a new fact for today - they are from the same family as prawns!
We learned so much from Tony in a short time. We can’t wait for him to return for next weeks lesson.
