P7 Exploring the colour wheel
The first art lesson of the term saw an introduction to the colour wheel and the work of French artist Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979). Delaunay loved geometrical shapes, especially circles and she was well known for using strong colours.
The colour wheel is a useful tool to understand colours and their shades/tones. The primary colours are red, blue and yellow; from these the secondary colours orange, green and purple can be created. Following on from that the various shades can be made. For example from the colour red you can get many shades such as: copper, pink, coral, burgundy, scarlet, maroon, etc.
Hopefully the photos will show the fabulous art work that P7 are creating.
