P7 Ulster American Folk Park
P7 had the most amazing day at the Ulster American Folk Park near Omagh today. They embarked on a journey across the centuries and the vast Atlantic Ocean as they followed the story of the Irish emigration. There were three parts to the journey into the past - the Old World, the Journey and the New World. P7’s travels in the Old World started at the Single Room Cabin with its potato patch, followed by a visit to the much grander Campbell House. At the Mass House, P7 discovered the smell of potato blight/rot - definitely not nice. The Forge was also visited, as well as the Schoolhouse, where they were given a maths lesson and some PE exercises. The Journey was all about the experience emigrants had aboard a ship sailing across the Atlantic - again not pleasant. The New World proved to be very exciting and P7 noticed that each house had a few more improvements than the last one. There was one creature that we kept bumping into, Claude the cockerel. He seemed to be following us everywhere!
